Day Two:
Bar Harbor, Maine (Part 2)

No trip to Bar Harbor is complete without a bike ride through the Acadia Carriage Paths. You can rent bicycles in Bar Harbor and spend the whole day lost in the beauty of the earth.
The Carriage Paths take you into the heart of Mount Desert Island. Pristine forests and mountains surrond you. The Paths are available only to hikers, bikers, and equestrians.
On the Paths you will find mountain ponds which are not visible from anywhere else on the Island.
A view of Bubble Pond.
Eagle Lake looking at Sargent Mountain.
On the far side of the Island, you can leave the Paths for lunch at the Jordan Pond House.
I was suprised to discover that a lot of fall colors were already showing. I attribute at least some of this to the '99 drought which has parched much of New England.
